Chronic malnutrition and access to quality healthcare for mothers and children remain a challenge in Guatemala.

The TRAction project  employed a technical cooperation approach with the local Ministry of Health to address these challenges. The technical cooperation approach embedded knowledge generation activities into traditional technical assistance to better inform and improve interventions. Therefore, in addition to providing technical support, the TRAction project integrated implementation research to examine how activities were carried out; determine their effects, and extract lessons learned that could then be expanded to other geographical areas. TRAction provided capacity building activities, communication and dissemination strategies to generate awareness and behavior change in the population, and financial as well as non-financial resources. The project drew to a close in 2014 and culminated in dissemination activities at the national and local level.
